J. C. Hamilton: The Works of Alexander Hamilton: 1851
J. C. Hamilton, Hamilton's son, edited The Works of Alexander Hamilton (N.Y.: 1851), so it is presumably J. C. Hamilton who wrote at the top of the first page of Alexander Hamilton's manuscripts a penciled note that reads: "I must not publish the whole of this." His editing of Hamilton's works omits the part of Hamilton's letter to Laurens beginning "And Now my Dear."
