Description
This is a photo of over 800 US flags, placed on the greenspace at UNL to represent the over 800 specialists (of the over 13,000 gay and lesbian military personnel) who have been discharged under Don't Ask Don't Tell since it was passed into law in 1993. Human Rights campaign came to campus to help educate about the policy and its effects. A panel was held later that evening, consisting of members of Voices of Honor (former military members who were discharged or left the military because of DADT), and a straight ally and former veteran who supports repeal of the policy.
