Dorothea Leighton
Dorothea Leighton was born on September 2, 1908, in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. She was a social psychiatrist and one of the founders of the field of medical anthropology. In 1947 she and anthropologist Clyde Kluckhohn published the book Children of the People: The Navaho Individual and His Development, which described their observations of Navaho gender expression.
